Unloved poem

below the sun of a single man
his path inside the twilight began
but in his fantasy a boy is healed
& beneath the moon his face revealed

his flailing hair of insanity
cries at the girl of his dreams
on a waterway of opaque chastity
they float in lovesick screams

death tastes its red wine
the crippled quake afraid of life
a wise man holds a book of strife
beneath the dead Lord’s shrine

a numb mother chants & sings
her son looks at the sky’s gold
his eyes are honest & cold
through the air a church-bell rings

above the candle of a single man
his fingers black from digging
the walls of his dreams screaming
he begs to sleep whenever he can

The Dead Can See - Nov, 2003

sticky in the brown sap
there is pain underground,
where stifled for some time
it waits

until the new season brings life
& days spent rooted
in sadness grow like childhood
thru the earth
to drink the cloud’s rain.
